It came this week and our son was thrilled and surprised. I showed him how to use the little lock and where "we" will hide the keys. He ran off right away to write in it.
The book itself is well made a hardback type cover with lined pages inside. The binding is nice no pages trying to escape. The obvious attraction for kids will be the "keep out" and "do not enter" signs on the front. The lock is a little junky, like the other reviewer said, but that isn't a big deal for us. If it breaks, we'll just buy him a small lock to replace it. For this price I don't expect to find a high dollar lock on the diary.
The price of $9.99 plus free SuperSaver shipping (for orders over $25) made this a good deal. Especially if you've been unable to find a boy-themed diary locally.

At first I was not sure if my 8 year old son would make use of this diary. I have noticed that whenever he is upset or even extremely exited that he likes to write down his thoughts. My 8-1/2 year old son loves this diary. It's a nice size and the key/lock are very easy to operate. He keeps it under his pillow or tucked away in his desk. It is well-made and the cover is very cute. Good buy.
