I think a 10 or 11 year-old might be able to do it themselves. I helped my 10 year-old son, who hasn't done much model building in the past.

The most remarkable thing about the kit is how clear, precise, and easy to follow the instructions are. The only tricky business is putting on the big spiral that supports the canopy.

This comes together in an hour or 90 minutes, including drying time for the (included) glue, and is cool-looking and satisfying to spin. Recommended.

this is a great display of basic mechanical motion principles, and shows the wisdom beyond his time of Da Vinci.. was not hard to build and came with everything needed except a ruler and scissors. I plan to build many of the items in the product line and display them together...

With a little hand sanding and a touch of wax or chap-stick on the moving parts and it was moving fine. It would have been 5 stars but the fabric for the top was to small, so it had a gap : (.

The older family really loved it, but during short visit the recipient just had too much other things that didn't require patience. I think he will enjoy it when has more time to work on it.

Had a great time building it with Teenie :) Great father / daughter project! This is a not a model for beginners, although not that difficult to build ... very detailed directions and glue provided. Use the glue they give you, it's very strong!
