I bought this for my 5 & 6 year olds to play with. It works well. We made pond water and looked at all the little critters in it. It's almost too powerful though. Something with a 500X max would be plenty. The cam is a very powerful eyepiece. Much stronger than the optical eyepieces. What looks good in the scope is much bigger (and harder to find) with the cam. It does do decent movies of the critters, but only if you find one that isn't moving because the magnification is so high. If I had it to do over again I'd get a lower power model, and maybe skip the cam.
