My son, 3,5 years, loves these. (We also have ant, frog and butterfly.) He likes to sort them and talk about them and what they are doing. We looked up some videos on youtube showing the metamorphosis of the butterfly. The videos helped my son to understand that the four figures were different stages of the same animal. The figures are fairly large, which makes it easy for young children to handel and see the details. I found the mature ladybug could have been prettier.

We bought these for our granddaughters' science class for home school. They really love playing with these, but they also helped them recognize these stages in our own backyard. We have found several ladybug larva, and we didn't realize that is what they were. Awesome collection, and can't wait to buy the other series.
