I purchased this scope as an amateur naturalist/photographer and hobbyist. It's very well constructed and mechanically excellent. I would rate the optics as good to very good. For the professional microscopist. If your a beginner it can take some time to get acustomed to using it. Has many functions. Needs to come with a owners mannual fordetailed infoand operating instructions.
