I bought two sets of these for my 9-month-old and 2-year-old so they could practice the songs we were learning in Musikgarten. They are great quality wood and make a great sound. Both kids love to tap with them and they are a great size for little hands. They were a bit smaller than I expected -about the size of a large cigar, but they are just perfect! My 8-month-old son loves musical instruments, especially percussion ones. I wanted rhythm sticks that a) made a nice sound, b) weren't too long for him, so he wouldn't poke an eye out, c) would fit nicely in his little hands, and d) wouldn't be splintery, because they would spend a lot of time in his mouth, because he's teething. These claves delivered on all counts. He immediately figured out what they were for, they fit his hands perfectly and were nice and smooth so I didn't mind him gnawing at them. I'm very pleased. I am completely satisfied with these claves. They are smooth and have a nice sound. I consider them to be a quality instrument that will last for years. I also like the length--not so long that they will be a temptation to use as a weapon. :) Good price too.
