My girl is 3 1/2, she really likes to play... some areas are hard for her if I am not next to her coaching her a little but she can play on her own for a long time and have fun. She feels great and exclaims when she earn badges which give you points to use for buying dress up clothes, collectibles, and themes for the game. Kinda cool for her to feel like she earned something and can pick her prize. Game is pretty easy to navigate and has shortcuts for people that don't want to play the "story" but just want to do the challenges. There are items to find and collect and then deliver to other characters. There is a game to play for each of the main characters so that is fun for kids with a favorite character. Great variety of things to do and games to play. The game has a bit of an ability to adjust to your learning level and adjust to your learning accomplishments. Good game. I am happy with it. It is the only cartridge we have. We have only leaplets that are downloaded besides Kai-Lan and it is much more complex and worth the expense comparatively. However, leaplets would be disappointing at the price of a cartridge.

We have a clickstart and have Kai-Lan for that, I was a little concerned that the game would be very similar but it is not at all. It is very different from the clickstart activities (I've read complaints that clickstart games and leapster are too similar so kids tire of them quickly.) Not the case with Kai-lan for explorer vs clickstart, Very Different

My daugher has had this game about 2 months and still seems to enjoy playing it. Teaches social skills and paying attention to the cues your friends are giving non-verbally so that you can be a better friend. Some extremely basic math and number stuff but my 4yr old likes it a lot.

My son enjoys playing with this game. Kids today are so inventive that another game he owns he completely figured out to use on his own, and he is only 4. He also figured out how to use the device itself on his own.

So a couple of things with this game. 1) You will need to assist smaller children (i.e., 4 or even 5) who don't know basic addition to get through certain parts of this game. 2) The game has 4-5 sections you can go into (i.e., Ya Ya's House, Tolee's treehouse, etc.). I couldn't figure out where you had to go first, or if there was some sort of order to the game. It seems as though these are just random places you go through and they are not necessarily connected, which is fine.

I would recommend this game for children who are fans of Kai-Lan and also for parents who would like to engage their children's knowledge of math.

My kids really like this game, but not at first. As you'll find with the LF Explorer games kids can earn tokens to use in LeapWorld as they use the games. I noticed the kids didn't play with this game much so I (their Mom) played the game myself. After seeing what they needed to be able to play more, I linked the Explorer with the computer and added as many micromods I could for the Super Happy Day game using tokens now they play it all the time. My children's ages are 3, 5 & 7. The three year old uses it the most.

My five year old got this for her birthday. She loves her Explorer, and was so excited to get the Kai Lan game, but she was immediately frustrated trying to figure out how to get started. Once she got going, however, she conquered the entire game in just a couple of hours. It seems like this game is pretty shallow compared to some others, like Toy Story, Mr. Pencil, Leap School. etc. Not a lot of challenges, and the games are pretty simple; cutting noodles, making dumplings, etc. The only one she really enjoys is the race, and that one because she likes to make the character fall down, which makes her laugh.

My other gripe about the game (all Explorer games, actually) is that you can't get new dress-up clothing for Kai Lan without going online. When we first got the Explorer & tried to get online with it it completely whacked out our computer and we had to do all kinds of repair work to it and we never could get online. So now we can't access any of the game features that are only available online. Very irritating, and disappointing for my daughter as well. I know we are not alone in this, as I have read many other horror stories about trying to connect to Leap World.

I'm giving 3 stars only because my daughter still likes to play the simple games, and she just loves the Kai Lan characters.
