These are my baby's first toys (that he was interested in, at least), and by far his favorites.black-and-white sides and crinkles/jingles held his interest from four to six weeks old for practicing tracking
they're the right size and squish for a twoto three-month-old to grab by squeezing fisty-hands together
the little tags/nubbins/rings and raised, pipe edging are great hand holds for the fourto five-month-old's graspy fingers
the squish factor makes them great for tummy time since he can mash his face into them with little consequence
the different textured sides and crinkle/jingles means he can keep himself entertained now at five months alternately examining, squishing, gnawing, rattling them when I give him one in his car seat or set them out on the floor around him during tummy time
four of them makes for easy trade offs when he starts getting bored with one
I know one reviewer was concerned about the ring on the D block being a potential choking hazard: The ring is two inches in diameter (and passes the can't-fit-through-a-paper-towel-roll test) and is definitely too big for my kid to wedge all the way into his mouth when he's trying to eat it (I've watched him try; it's adorable/hilarious). It's also very securely attached to the block (as are all the little nubbin things). It sounds like that reviewer had exceptional circumstances, but in the normal course of monitored baby play it seems very safe (you could always clip the ring's ribbon from the block to remove any potential).

I received a set of these for my new granddaughter. When she first started to grab and hold things, these were the best!! She could hold them with no trouble, and loved the tags and loops on the edges. Of course, she "ate" them all, and they are completely machine washable. She explored the textures, and loved the crinkly sounds of some. My son loves these. They are soft and lightweight enough for him to pickup even with his uncontrolled hand movements and he doesn't hurt himself. The crinkly part makes it even more fun and every cube is different with a different feel and attachment. He can keep using them as he grows for ABCD/1234 learning.
