I bought these binoculars for my 3-year-old daughter. I liked the fact that they were designed for small people, that they are adjustable and can be focused. I was a bit disappointed when we got them by how flimsy they are. They are so easy to adjust that they don't stay adjusted: You have to hold them with both hands to maintain a proper interpupillary distance. The focus, on the other hand, is not very easy to adjust. The field of view is tiny, and the optics are so bad that there are rainbows around everything (not so great for looking at stars and planets). My daughter enjoyed playing with them, but she mostly looked at everything backwards. I guess I'll wait until she's a bit bigger and get her a pair of real binoculars.

I was looking for something that was more realistic looking. I returned these. Not sure how durable they are but they felt extremely cheap.

My little guy loves being outside, and he loves nature. These binoculars were a sure bet. I got these for his 4th birthday, along with a Diego Animal Rescue Pack, a straw safari hat, and a safari vest. He loves to dress up in the whole outfit, but the binoculars are functional, not just for pretend. We can take them when we walk down the trails. He likes to sit in his tree fort and watch the stars too. We are definitely getting good use out of these.

Bought them for my little explorer when he was 2 (he's 3 now.) He LOVES these binoculars and pretty much packs them in his backpack anytime we leave the house. He'd played with them at the park, in the backyard, heck he even brought them one day we were at Disneyland. He adores them, and they have encouraged so much awesome imaginative play in the great outdoors.

The one warning I would put out there as that these are not really functional binoculars. They magnify a little, but if you have an older child thats really looking to use them like real binoculars, this is likely not the pair for you. I recommend them for the toddler/preschool crowd, but will likely get him a better quality set once he is a tad older.

These binoculars are not very easy to use. They will not tighten up when you adjust them to fit your child eyes and the focus is not very clear on the padded side. I would not recommend these binoculars. Put a little more money and get a regular size set of binoculars. The vest and the light is the only thing useable in the Explorer kit for kids.
