While many appear lame to adults, like making a light glow when you shine a flashlight on a sensor, to someone new to the miracle of electronics they provide hours of intense, educational play. One of the intergrated circuits was defective and the speaker never worked. Worse still, several of the schematics are wrong. I was able to get the circuit to work only after using similar circuits to discover the diagrams had their circuit points mislabled. Although these problems only affected a few dozen of the 320 exeriments in the kit, they were disappointing. After three years of use two more intergrated circuits quit working.
Another problem is that there are some language problems with the instruction books that suggest they were machine translated and not checked by a naturally English speaking person.
Finally, because of the way the diagrams are laid out relative to the instructions for each circuit, it's often difficult to determine which circuit is to be used and what changes are to be made to achieve the goals of the experiment.
Having said all that, I nonetheless ordered a second kit so my grandson and I can finish working through all the experiments.
