This little bell set is ingenious. I'd been wanting to get my son a set of handbells as he adores music and musical instuments of every kind, and thought they'd be a good way to begin to teach him the concept of notes corresponding to letters. The problem is I just didn't see where we had space for a whole set of bells. We can barely fit the instruments he has (which is a lot).
This little set is so clever. It has basically a set of hand bells in a compact little size. The letters are above each different colored bell and the little music sheet that comes with it includes the letter and the color of the bell.
My son got this as a present for his 3rd birthday and the adults were having just as much fun playing with it as the kids. The adults were using the music sheet to play little songs, the middle aged kids (5-8) made up their own tunes when their turns came and the little ones (all 3 years old) had a blast spinning the carousel then holding the mallet against the bells and listening to the rapid, tinkling scales it played.
I see this toy getting a lot of use in our house and it seems well-built and sturdy. I also love that it has a place to hold the mallet so that it doesn't get lost and that the mallet has a hard side and a soft side. This toy is great for teaching the concept of high notes versus low notes, that notes correspond to letters, and the basics of how to read music. It is also just a fun little toy to bang on and tinker with.

These make a very clear, lovely sound unlike many bell or xylophone toys out there, and they do seem to be tuned well. This toy is fun and won't bug parents too much.

We're a musical family and we were looking for a xylophone style toy. It's been hard to find one that's in key. This looked pretty unique. It is smaller than it looks online, but don't let that deter you at all. The notes resonate well and it's a versatile toy too. You can play notes, or a melody, or spin the carousel and hear a "magical" chiming sound. My daughter (17 months) loves to play the bells and she spins it herself too. The baton has a storage spot on the toy, so it won't get lost (I hope.)Plus, it's a toy to grow with. It come with a little songbook, showing you how to play simple tunes (eg. Wheels on the Bus, Twinkle Twinkle, etc.) and I know when my daughter is older, she'll be able to use this toy to figure out the notes to other favourite songs. I want to buy this toy for all my friends with kids. My whole family loves it!

I got this for my daughter's 2nd birthday because she's very musical, but most "music" toys we've gotten her are either electronic (Mozart cube) or too "toy" and not really playable/in-tune (little tikes piano, xylophone, etc). Those other toys have value too but we wanted something now that could actually properly play a song and help her develop her ear for the scale. Which is why we LOVE the carousel bells! They sound lovely, especially when you spin it and hold the mallet in place with the bells running under it (which the 2YO can do herself). The bells are subtly labeled with the actual notes so it's easy to play a tune. And, it is very colorful. I didn't know before I bought it but you can also remove the handle and bells from the base and hold it in your hand to play, which will be fun as she gets older. Definitely recommend this one!
