I purchased this for my son for his 5th birthday. I've been trying to decide which marble run to buy him for quite awhile. I wanted plastic because I felt it would be easier for a 5 year old to build on their own and because plastic sets are much more affordable than the wooden ones. The plastic of this set is thick and sturdy. The pieces take some pressure to go together but is definitely doable by a 5 year old. This toy is so much fun to tinker with. It takes practice to get runs that stay upright and that's part of what's so great about this toy. The reason I chose this specific set over all the other plastic marble runs out there are the fact that it works with (and comes with) standard size glass marbles and because of all the great reviews on the Amazon.uk site. It my son continues to play with this as much as he has so far, I will be buying an additional set so he can make even bigger runs.
