I'm not sure about needing better instructions.. But I am pretty tech savy so the instructions that were in there were just fine for me. Actually I didn't need to read them, the push buttons told what everything did..I use this to hasten my sons speed. He is Autistic, and has to go through his ritual's before doing anything. For taking medicine, it usually takes 15 minutes or more, to get him settled and taking it. With this handy count down timer, we play can you beat the horn? (car horn is one of the sound choices). I am not exaggerating when I say it now takes him 10 SECONDS. I put it on ten seconds, hit start count down, the lady counts down and on 1, poof he downs his medicine. A huge Difference!!
Brushing teeth the same way, I start it on 10 seconds, for him to start brushing. (it usually takes 15 minutes to psych himself into starting). Once he starts, I set it for two minutes, and he brushes until the 2 minutes are up.
Those are just a couple of examples that I use this for. I use this all day long. It is wonderful!
I am just really pleased with this timer. What a time saver for my son, and he feels good thinking he defeated the timer! ha! =)
Best Deals for Talking Timer
I bought this timer to help my young children keep track of their computer time. It does a great job, it has the regular digital screen of course but also gives them a count down audibly so they know when they need to start finishing up what they are doing. It is also neat that it has different sounds for the alarm, the kids have fun choosing which sound they want. There are a couple of cons however. The instruction page is very brief and was hard for me to understand. The hardest part was that the buttons to change the alarm sound and turn the alarm off and on are under a plastic cover that looks like it is just part of the timer (The bottom part that says Talking Timer). The instructions don't tell you this so I could not figure out where those buttons were. My husband finally found that you had to slide that plastic back and they were under there but that cover is extremely hard to slide back and it is only made of cheap plastic so I am always afraid it is going to get broken. The only other thing is I don't recommend using this timer with with the audible countdown on if you are trying to concentrate on something, from 10 min. on down it gives the time left every minute and the last min. every 10 seconds. Very annoying if you are trying to concentrate but you can turn the voice off. Overall I like this product, it has preformed well and I would buy it again.Honest reviews on Talking Timer
I have had this timer since 2005. I have had to replace the battery only once and it is still functioning very well. I love the talking feature for the kids. It helps them know when time is running out. We have used it to time brushing teeth, fluoride rinses, showers, games, and of course cooking. The kids like picking out which sound they want to hear when time is up. It has so many more functions than your basic timer. Well worth the money!!The only problem I have had over time is the clip on the back finally broke one of the times we dropped it on the floor. It really isn't a big deal for us. It's easier to push the buttons with it laying flat on the counter or stuck on the refridgerator. I would definitely recommend this to everyone!!
