My mother-in-law bought this for my daughter for her 4th birthday and she loves it! My husband does the experiments with her. We have 2 older children (9 & 11) and they love to help out. Overall I would say this is a fun toy for kids both young and old. Younger kids need assistace and the older, say 8 and up, should be able to work independently to do the task cards by themselves.

My three children have had so much fun with this wonderful kit. There are hours and hours of experiments to do and most of them can be repeated. The instruction cards are great and easy to follow and all the explanations are on the back of the card. My children can't wait to ask for other Magic School Bus science kits for Christmas.

I bought this for my 6 year old grandson for Christmas. It has about 50 cards that recommend experiments but you need a big list of supplies, which it doesn't list, in order to do the experiments. Would have been helpful to have the supply list on the outside of the box because as soon as it was opened my grandson wanted to start the experiments and was disappointed when we didn't have the necessary supplies at hand. Some of the "equipment" is pretty cheap and flimsy as well. And some of the experiments just didn't work.

My six year old daughter loves this kit! It has everything you need form Petrie dish to test tubes to goggles ( though the goggles are a bit too cloudy). There are even balloons and litmus paper.. You will need to provide some common household ingredients like salt, vinegar, baking soda and corn starch. But everything else is in there. My daughter make a hypothesis, measures, observed, takes notes ( which are impossible to read, but she's working on it ;). There are so many experiments it will take us days to get through them all, and many are worth repeating. Absolutely worth it if you have a tiny aspiring scientist! My 8 year old can do it without assistance, the 6 year old needs a little help, but does most of it on her own. Amazing.

This product is extremely high quality. The cards are engaging and pretty easy to understand and the materials are well organized and easy to find. If your child has any interest in science, this is a great way to nuture a future career. I really loved how the cards moved through easy steps to explore the kit and once you spend a little time on this with your child, they would soon be independent in doing the experiments. My only critique to make the product even better would be to have the fun box design be more user friendly to store the materials in...Once you take the supplies out, the cardboard that holds the bus roof up is confusing to put back together, even for an adult. You won't be disappointed in investing in this kit.
