Bought this for my 1 yr old and still using it a year later. It has held up perfectly. My friend had the same one and her's came apart. I think the difference is likely how we cleaned it. I just wipe it with a wet cloth at the table, I think she submerged hers in water at the sink.

My five year old specifically asked for one of these for Christmas. When she got it, she was so excited and she uses it most days of the week. It cleans up easily, and is double sided, no color on the back side. Great product. She now knows all letters of the alphabet in ASL and it keeps her busy/holding still while dinner is being served.

Our 4 year old son loves sitting and eating meals with this placemat. He now knows the entire ASL alphabet and likes to practice it while we eat. It's also been very durable so far even after being washed off and wiped down many times.
