My 5 y/o loves her x-rays. Of course, she asked for them for Christmas, so I guess we couldn't go wrong. They are durable, educational, and she loves the fact you can put them all together to make one "mommy sized" person! Then after you have put them together, parent and child can work together to put the labels on the specific area of the body.

This is a skeleton model of a young adult, though I'm not sure if it's male or female. There are 18 pieces that stand about 5' tall when you put all them all together. These work great when held up to the light, but really show up well when you put them against a window or on a light table. The instructions even say you can use them on an overhead projector for use in the classroom. There's a very helpful index picture on every piece that tells you how the pieces fit together to form the complete puzzle. There's also a scratch coating that's been applied to these, but they also suggest you get them laminated if you're going to have a lot of kids handle them. They also include a sheet of labels that identify the bones and a page of information about x-rays and some ideas of how to use these pieces in class. Great teaching tool!Best Deals for Roylco, Inc. I just popped the xrays off their shipping sheets, and put them together as a full body. I was happy to see that the arms and legs are segmented in different ways; which allows your eyes to focus on different aspects of the bones and their relationships. I was also pleasantly suprised to find that when the body was complete, there were two extra pieces(a jaw and half a pelvic/hip area),that were included just to useful in examining the body closer. The x-rays are true to the picture on the packaging, and are transparent enough for children to hold up to their bodies, and examine how the bones lie on their own forms. They bones can be see without being held to a light, and a lamp would do just fine to do a real examination. Personally, I am ready to whip out the light table, and lay out the whole body on a carpet.I am more than excited to bring this well thought out and truly cool manipulative into the classroom with my 1-5 year olds and see it through their eyes!My only negative, is the obvious. They are as thick as you'd expect a plastic x-ray to be, and thus would require somewhat gentle handling. With the younger kids, you'd have to be constantly present to prevent bending and what have you.
Basically, if you are even half considering these, they are well worth it.

We love these x-rays. They were easy to "set up" (tear apart at perforations into individual xrays). My kids and I sprayed a little water on our sliding glass doors and they stuck right up, and it was like a giant xray wall. Very cool. My daughter, 4 years old, only needed a little help figuring out where each xray went. It includes a small xray that shows the entire skeleton as a guide. Fantastic quality, easy to store (fits back in the included cardboard envelope). I look forward to using these for all sorts of lessons with my kids.Added bonus? Great halloween decoration!
