My first-grader and his friend took this set down to the basement, turned out all lights and just watched the nanos. The giggles from two little boys were music to my ears! Since then my son had built and re-built the habitat using pieces from regular sets.

The glow in the dark habitat cells attach to the white cells which makes this product great! However, the locking/ unlocking tabs for the gates are easier on the white cells. My child loves these habitat sets...and I enjoy watching her and the little nano bugs. They are inexpensive and make terrific gifts;) I find them reasonable in both price and as a child's toy.

So the hex bug that comes with this thing is really cool. It glows in the dark and it isn't a normal one that you could buy in a store. This habitat, like all other hex bug habitats, it doesn't snap together well. The minute you move it an inch it falls apart. Then its Dad can you fix this every five minutes from your little ones. If you kid likes hex bugs I would say go ahead and buy this for them, but be prepared for some less then stellar pieces.

The only way they could have made hex bugs cooler and more fun was to make them glow in the dark! My kids have so much fun setting this up and turning out the lights to watch their glow in the dark hex bugs zoom around! It was totally worth the money and made for a great gift.

My youngest loves to watch the bugs bounce off the walls and run around the track. She also has some glow in the dark bugs and we have to turn the lights to get the full effect. The white looking part of the track does glow in the dark as stated.
