I have a 5 year old grandson who got a Leapster Explorer for last Christmas and so I got one too so I could play along with him. I have purchased a number of games that worked well and was pleased overall with the Explorer devise itself as to sound and screen quality. But this game cartridge has a flaw in it. I have been unable to finish the game. After a certain point in the fifth zone it just keeps repeating the instructions and won't open the secret passage after I have done what it said to do. I have made repeated tries using different sign in names. I have called and email the company many times but their customer service is awful and I have received no help at all and no satisfactory response. In addition I really feel the age ranges are somewhat deceptive and should be marked a little older even for today's tech savvy kids.

We bought this fr our 7 year granddaughter and our 5 year old alos loves it too. both girls will spend more time than we allow playing all of the leap pad games and brave. My six year old daughter loves this game...I think its her favorite of the three LeapFrog Explorer games my husband got for her!!! It teaches as well entertains. It's all about their enjoyment. They play it and get an elementary biology education in the process. My only knock on this game applies to all Leapfrog products: not enough expandability. What do I mean by that? Well, if I get an app for my iPad, frequently it is updated/upgraded. Often with new levels. The kids continue to experience new and fun things. Leapfrog does make some additions, but the interface on my computers (a Mac & a Windows PC) is clunky and does not foster updating. Much like an old Palm Pilot by my recollection. My daughter who is 5 received it for Christmas. She played it twice and lost interest. Then couple days later she picked it up again and started playing. Now it's her favorite game. She plays it almost everyday and she loves it. I'm surprised how much she's learned from that game. It's very fun and learning, she said she wished they made Brave 2, well who knows.
