My daughter loves this toy. She is also a child who has a pretty good attention span for a 1 year old so keep that in mind, but she will play with this toy for 30 minutes without reaching for anything else. It is loud, does have volume control, and if you are easily annoyed I am sure the songs would be annoying. I personally believe that noise and repetition come along with having children, so I tune it out. She absolutely loves when I sing the lyrics and dance with her though. The songs are upbeat and being able to change them and "d.j." if you will is very cute.

Nice variety of music, instrument names and sounds. grandson is able to turn on/off and turn the dials. He may be a little ahead of his age with that.
