I bought it, thinking it would make a great recipe book to keep in the kitchen. You know. A journal of food i could have to pass down. But I don't think so. It's just too small for writing full recipes in it.
On the bright side.... It's a handy little notebook. And even though small... It does have a substantial amount of pages.
Addendum...
ThinkGeek has an 8"x5" version advertised for a $1 more.

This is River Song's journal. It is not exactly the same as her journal on the show because it is a replica. That means to expect that the front isn't textured and that it isn't worn in the way hers was. Of course, if you want it to be worn, use it! It is normal journal size, so expect that as well, but the dimensions are specifically listed in the description. The price is fantastic! There are more pages in this journal than other journals of comparable size and price. I have purchased other non-Dr Who journals for the same price or more and recieved less pages or poor quality. Even if you are not interested in this journal as River Song's journal, the price and quality is still worth it. I journal regularly, and you just don't often find a journal of this quality with this many pages with or without it being Dr. Who merchandise.
The journal is worth it even if you are just looking for a regular journal.
