Our weather obsessed 5-year old son loves this gadget! He uses it as a storm probe (think "Storm Chasers") and is able to track wind speeds, temperature, and rainfall with this educational toy. He has had this weather pod for over 1 year and it has held up very well to weather and moderately rough play. This is a toy that has held his interest; he is now 6 and still uses the pod whenever a storm is in the area.

i returned this item thinking it didn't work and now i feel like an idiot (because it was my mistake that it wasn't working properly) So i ordered another one "new" and had the same thing happen to me again which was that the screen was not showing wind speed, had wrong temp, the on/off wouldn't work. So I was like no way i got two with the exact same problem so i took my rechargeable batteries out and put two new regular batteries in and the new one i have now is working fine meaning the one i returned was working too. I don't like that my mistake cost someone else money. So these summit weather pods work really well just don't use rechargeable batts. or if you do and its not working properly try a set of regular batts before returning it. This may also happen if you put batteries in it that don't have a full charge.
