My son recieved a v-smile for his 4th birthday, but some of the games are hard for the ages they suggest, but the Lion King game is perfect for young kids. It teaches colors, matching, small vs. large, counting, and basic logic skills. He has played with it numerous times since buying it yesterday.

Without a doubt this is the V-Smile cartridge our kids (2 & 4) play with most and love the most. The music is wonderfully catchy, the graphics are appealing and the game play is well suited to the target audience. The activities are extremely well paced and varied; the difference in difficulty was well thought out and there are activities that are challenging and fun and others that are just plain fun.

Buy this one. Unless your kids hate The Lion King they'll love this one... come to think of it they might love it anyway :-)

This is our 4th V-Smile Smartridge. We have the smartridge which accompanies the V-Smile system and purchased Winnie the Pooh and Superfriends. Our boys are ages 5 and 3 and the Superfriends seemed to be a little advanced for them at this point. So, we've put Superfriends up for a few months until there skills grow. We purchased the Lion King smartridge last month and they seem to really enjoy playing it!

This smartridge seems to have quite a few 2-player games/options which bodes well for us because it minimizes the feuds between the kids. [FYI: We actually have 2 V-Tech V-Smile systems and thus 2 controllers.] The Lion King smartridge is also a source of enjoyment for them when they are playing alone as 1-player.

The game has good detailing/graphics and seems to keep the attention of our boys with the various built-in games which teach colors, numbers, animal identification, identification of likeness and difference, et al. A nice feature is that it gives the assemblance of playing a "real" video game. For example, in some instances the advancement of the character may have to be pretty "on point" or precise. As I found out, in one instance, if you don't leap properly Simba may fall off the log. I actually think this is a good feature because it serves to build motor skills and hand-eye coordination.

Last weekend, my 3-year old asked me to play with him and I said yes. We played a game where you are provided a picture of an animal, then there is a split screen (when playing in 2-player mode), and the first player to select and place the 3 segments of the subject animal in the proper order wins. Well, my 3-year old beat me the 1st time. I thought this was a fluke and suggested we play again. To my surprise he won a 2nd time. Tickled and a bit embarrassed, I said let's play again. You know what, he won!!! At that point, I could do nothing but laugh because a 30-something year old woman had been beaten royally by a 3-year old. To add insult to injury, my 3-year old then offered his assistance by saying, "Mommy, I'll help you". My husband will never let me live this one down!!!

My son is 4.5 and received the Lion King Smartridge for Christmas this year with the Vsmile system. This is his first experience with a video game system. I do not recommend Lion King as a first game even though it is labeled 3-5 years. This is not an accurate label. In Lion King the child must be able to simultaneously control the joystick and enter button to make Simba jump over water and land successfully. He also needs to start from a precise point to avoid landing in the water. This is my son's first experience with a video game system and he has trouble with controlling and coordinating this movement. He also received the Elmo's World (3-5 yrs) and Dora's Fix-it Adventure (4-6 yrs) games. These games are both much easier and more forgiving than Lion King. Dora & Elmo never die, there aren't any lives, and when they need to jump over something the child only needs to push the enter button. For a child inexperienced with video games and a low tolerance for frustration, I would not start with this game. The concepts are easy...but the controls are too challenging. My son loves Lion King so I'm sure eventually he will love this game, but right now Elmo and Dora are much easier for him to control.

I was looking for a lively, challenging game to go with one that comes with the game. As my son and I both play together.

It is easy enough for my 3 year old to maneuver and choose the setting and game to play. AND it can be challenging for me as well.

My son loves to watch me go to the fast and harder level to play.

If you are looking for a video game that is teaching and challenging for your child as well as you this is the one.

I decided on this game due to other reviews here and was not disappointed.

We have the Bob the Builder one and it is down right boring for both of us.
