This lasso is a lot of fun and easy to use. I used it at vacation Bible school, and it was a huge hit. All the kids wanted turns with it. My daughter who had just finished kindergarten learned how to use it quite easily with a little practice. There is a break-away safety feature which keeps the noose from pulling tight so you will not have to worry when your kids think it's great fun to use each other as targets. The DVD trick video is not great. It basically shows someone switching hands while twirling the lasso or stepping in and out of it. Nothing your ten-year-old couldn't figure out by himself. Also, the lasso is not rigid enough to twirl overhead like a real lasso.

This lasso really does work. It takes just a few moments to get the hang of it. It took a little longer for small kids to get it going.

I was skeptical that my boys could make this thing do what the guy does in the video (in other words, make it spin), and my 9 year old got it right away. My 3 year old, not so much, but still makes it fun. I do wish you could make the ring a little smaller or something, but that is nitpicky. Good wholesome fun, and both boys love it. (And my 9 year old doesn't even like cowboy stuff).

This was just what my mother wanted to get for "the cowboy" (my nephew, her grandson--4 years old). I ordered it for her and he loved it. It is more of jumprope type material, but it did work and she said he liked the DVD.
