We bought this toy for our 6 month. She was determined that she was going to stand so we thought that we might as well get her something to help her strenghten her legs. Her legs were to short for a walker so we thought that she would enjoy something flashy like this activity block.
Within 48 hours of us playing with this block she was pulling her self up to it with easewith pillows on all sides of herin case she fell -of course. She was so proud of herself that she could push the buttons and start the music.
She played with the top of the block constantly when for at least a month and a half. Slowly she is discovering the other sides of the block. I think that it will be a great toy for her for at least 6 more months.
The Block is a little bit expensive but for us it certainly served its purpose. The batteries lasted about 2 months for us.
The only quirky thing that I have to say about this toy is that they should have made a clear cover for the spinning wheel on the top. My daughter kept stopping the wheel with her hand. However we realized that it was "big fun" to put the blocks, balls, a pacifier or anything else that we could find on that spinning wheel to create a merry go round effect.
For our family this toy worked great!

My six month old loves this toy he can pull himself to standing (with our support) and loves to hit the button on the top to make it spin. He loves to watch things spin around on the top, but does tend to stop it with his hand and it makes this awful grinding noise. The best part is that this toy will grow with your kids my friend's 18 month old adores this toy he even talks about it. :) It kept him occupied for at least an hour one evening and not many things keep an 18-month-old busy for that long.
My only complaint is that it is hard to explain to a young child that they have to put the block on the top a certain way for it to say what is in the block.

I bought this for my Daughter when she was 6 months old, that was three months ago. She absolutely loves it still. She perfected standing up using this block. Her first steps have been form this block to me.She has been mainly interested in the top and learned how to make it play by playing with the little buttons the special blocks press. She even found one that didn't match a block and got it to say 'Lamb' once
Update: She is 2 now. This thing is still in her room. She still plays with it. Its become a house for little stuffed animals, a play slide for little people animals, a mini dance studio and a late night light show. She eventually figured out all the sides of the block and discovered new uses for all of them. I'm hoping she'll really have outgrown it when it's time to pass it on to her little cousin who will be born in a few months. This is the only toy purchased before 9 months that she still plays with. The imaginative play it encourages as she 'shows' her little stuffed animals how to make it work was never advertised on the box. This is a real winner. And those batteries last a LONG time, I don't remeber the last time I had to change them
As she has gotten more hand eye coordination, not the other sides are starting to interest her more and more. I don't see her outgrowing this toy anytime soon and it is a wonderful toy to encourage play together.
As some reviewers have said the sound when they stop the turntable is annoying, but my daughter loves doing that soo much her shreiks of joy cover up the noise anyways.
