My kids will be doing a nature study and I purchased this so they could get a true feel for the life cycle of the ant. I was surprised at just how realistic this was. The kids are truly able to see what the ant world looks like that is too small for them to experience with their own eyes. While they won't replace being out in nature and watching ants in their natural habitat, this is honestly as far as they will probably come to seeing larvae and such.

I think all of these life cycle manipulatives are very neat. The kids will love them and adults even think they are neat. However, I was a little bit bummed this brand didn't have as much description about each stage as the other brand I received.
