First, I have to admit I didn't buy this on amazon, i'd'ave payed less if I did. Now, I've been playing guitar for over 30 years, but 'cause I injured my back, I can't sit for long periods to practice. so, I've been looking for somthin' small to cradle in my arms well lying on the couch. Most small guitars I tried just did not have the low bass end tone to satisfy me, as I play alot of jazz. I tried a uke, which is fun, but not the same. My full size classicals (I got two), just don't stay in place and keep slipping off, not a good thing. I saw this in the local music store , tried and fell in love. It has all the tone of a 4/4 full size economy guitar and definetly does not sound like a toy. It's the perfect size to cradle in my right arm leaving my left to fly. the action is lower then most entry classical and well finished with good tuners. I'm glad I found it.

We've only had the guitar since Christmas, but it's been a delight. Well made and easy to tune. I was worried early on that it would be too big for a 7 year old, but my daughter is on the tall side, so it is only tiny bit too large--she'll grow into it within a couple of months. Advice: do not buy the package that Amazon recommends--i.e. the guitar strap. This is the first guitar I've purchased, so I never even thought about something so simple, but because this is a classical style guitar, it does not come with strap pegs! You could add them later, but not recommended for this type of guitar. You should also bear this in mind if your child is expecting to play the guitar with a strap.
I will say that Amazon was great about crediting me for the useless strap!

This instrument is incredible for the price. I bought it for my grandson who has shown an interest in guitar. It's beautifully made, very sturdy, with good tone that matches easily to a full-sized or electric guitar. It's hard for many people to learn to re-string a real classical bridge, but it's actually quite simple even with non-classical strings. The bridge is too high for young people to finger comfortably, but that's easily corrected: slack the strings, remove the bridge, and sand the *bottom* of it (perfectly parallel) so that the strings are closer to the fretboard. That's about 1/8" of sanding. Make sure the bridge end is at least 1/16th higher than the string height at the nut. You can also reduce the nut height, which is a bit more difficult, but hardly impossible. That'll prevent buzzing and improve playability. .As a side note: Apparently a lot of people don't know that new nylon strings need to be retuned quite often when they're new. This is a classical, finger-style guitar. Don't buy picks or straps this is a classical guitar..If you don't play or know anything about guitars, go to a music store and talk to someone who does.

Generally it's wise to introduce kids to instruments on something that isn't quite as painful as this. The action is a bit too high on this, making is harder to get a note with no buzz. Yes this is so it's easier to mass produce and make cheaply. Just be aware that it may make it tougher to sell your kid on it.
