This is the most wonderful toy ever invented. I worked with babies in a hospital for two months over the summer and this was the only thing I needed to make them stop crying. Even while they were in what could only be immense pain the remained fascinated with the rainstick. It can be a little bit loud, so it's not ideal for public areas, but seriously, I swear by the rainmaker.

We bought this for our daughter's 1st birthday and we love it! So much fun to play with...even our older kids like it. I wasn't sure if this size would be too small, but its perfect. I wouldn't want it any larger.

This rainmaker is brightly colored and made of plastic, which is good for a young child. It doesn't sound as much like real rain as the more realistic stick-looking ones do, but it's good for a toy and a young child will find it fascinating. Quality construction and good size.

I purchased this 8" rainmaker for my 1 year old for christmas after some pretty great reviews. I am pretty disappointed overall. Because of the size the small beads inside don't have very far to fall therefore making little noise. You actually have to shake the toy to get the rest to fall and it doesn't sound much like rain when you shake it. I also purchased the 16" for my little sister and I would definitely recommend that you purchase the larger one as they were only a couple dollars more.

This is one of my daughter's (and mine) favorite toys. It is very pretty for her to look at when you turn it and let the beads fall down the tubes and makes a relaxing rain noise. The outer plastic cylinder is faceted so it has a nice "shimmer" to it also. On the toy the label says Made in Israel if anyone was curious.

The cylinder is quite thick for small baby hands so it is not the easiest toy for my daughter (7 months) to pick up and shove in her mouth. However, I kind of appreciate this because to pick it up she has to use both of her hands so I feel like it is teaching her some very basic problem solving skills (other toys she can easily grasp with a few fingers. This toy she has to think about how to balance this large cylinder in two hands to shove in her mouth).
