My 4 year old grand-daughter requested maracas for Christmas. These were actually larger than expected. She was pleased with them. They do only have a few bead inside so the sound isn't "full" but she is perfectly happy with them.

These are almost full sized maracas, but my 9 month son is able to hold them. I wouldn't recommmend them for too much younger though. They did seem to come with some kind of shiny finish on them, but we wiped them down with a wet paper towel and that seemed to remove some of the glossiness which we didn't want him to eat.He has banged them on our hardwood floor quite vigorously and a lot and these show no sign of breaking or cracking. They are currently one of his favorite toys.

I ordered 2 sets of these for my Grandchildren. One came in with the handle broke not very safe as the beads come out ofthe handle. This products is more for looks and not a toy!
