these are the covers that you would put over your sample when you want to do oil immersion view,
ie: keeps the lens from getting into the sample, layered it would be the slide, the sample, the cover slip, the oil, then the front lens element,
I wondered if plastic would be as good as glass and it seems to be about the same view and avoids being cut from broken, often contaminated cover slips,
